Tips on maximizing your PD Reference Search

You can search the PDP Reference database using keywords and/or other criteria. You may combine search criteria, although a less restricted search will probably provide better results.

Tip: Start with a broad search and narrow if necessary.

Search by keyword:

The system will find all references that match each keyword, not just those that match all keywords.  In other words, if you use more keywords, you will receive more results.

Narrow your search:

If you narrow your search, you will receive only references that match all of your search criteria.

You will find more references if you start with a broader search. We do not recommend narrowing your search using several criteria unless you have a very specific reference in mind. Start with a broad search and narrow if necessary.

Specify Articles only or Books only
You can limit your searches so results include only articles or only books. If you do not check "Article" or "Book", you will receive references for both articles and books.

Specify Title or Author
Type title and/or author data into the search fields. If you are unsure of the spelling, type in only the section you know.

Any fragment you enter may appear anywhere in the final results—beginning, middle or end. For example, entering 'alan' as an Author search fragment would return authors: Alan Wilson, Bob Alani or Bill Valantino.

Specify Publication or Publisher
Publication and publisher data appear in a dropdown menu. Only publications and publishers that are in our database will display here.

Remember: Start with a broad search and narrow if necessary.
